Presidential Elections

I used to get all riled up when "my" candidate didn't win. It started when I couldn't vote in November 'cause my 18th birthday wasn't til December-not that my vote would have changed the tide!!

I thought those same feelings would return yesterday and today. I found a wonderful peace in God: allow me to share.

"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
"For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
"For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
"Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth."
I Timothy 2:1-4

"Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:
"And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:
"He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him."
Daniel 2:20-22

"The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will."
Proverb 21:1

"And the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might shew these my signs before him:
"And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son's son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that I am the LORD."
Genesis 10:1-2 (the Word says that God hardened his heart 7 total times)

I am truly thankful to Jesus for his Peace!! I know that God is ALWAYS in control and nothing "happens" that he doesn't know!!

Yes, we do not have to be HAPPY over the outcome, but we will glorify God in all that we do. And that means respect and servanthood for the new President.

WOW!
That verse in I Timothy is awesome. I am so glad you shared that! The Daniel verse is one we recently studied in our bible study and I have found it to be very powerful and reassuring as well.

I am so thankful to "know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men...him that liveth for ever whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation." Daniel 4:25,34

As I've read blogs and online boards there seems to be a common thread: God is in control no matter who is in government. This is an appropriate reminder for me as we will be voting for our government tomorrow. Many people want change - but some change is not at all what we would like to see in our country.

I know and agree with you, about God's doings, but and if I don't keep my eyes on Him, The Mighty One of Israel, things would 'afraid with many amazements'
Thank you for the encouraging post.
